Nargarjuna Konda

Nagarjuna Konda is where Nagarjuna and his disciple Aryadeva lived. There are also many more interesting places to see in the surroundings.

AMARVATI

This is the statue of the Buddha found at Amaravati, in Andra Pradesh, in Southern India. This is where the Buddha conferred the Kalachakra inititation 2500 years ago. It is also here that His Holiness the Dalai Lama bestowed His 30th Kalachakra initiation in 2006, to a crowd of over 100,000 people.

AJANTA

This is one of the more important Buddhist sites, and a favourite destination for pilgrims. It consists of caves built into a cliff, in which are found temples of various sizes. On their walls are found stunning paintings and carvings of stories of the Buddha’s life, and of His previous lives as a Bodhisattva. Inside the temples, the beams and pillars are all made from a solid piece of rock. It is a remarkable piece of craftsmanship that takes away the imagination. It seems like the very essence of the earth.

ELLORA

Ellora is of breathtaking beauty. Like Ajanta, it consists of caves built into a cliff. It has 34 caves that serve as temples. Some are Buddhist, while others are Hindu and Jain.

Nepal

One of the unsurpassably supreme sacred sites known as the Three Stupas in Nepal is Tagmo Lüjin (lit. "the place where the future Buddha sacrificed his body to a tigress"). It is the very sacred place , the perfect and supreme Buddha-at that time still on the path of learning-offered his own body without regret to a tigress suffering from great hunger. What follows is a history of this supreme and distinguished sacred site, whose location is unmistaken based on the clear identification given in the Sutra Requested by the Tigress and so forth.
